IF we had an unlimited budget

If our company had an unlimited budget to the making of our film, we would have an idea of exactly who we would cast and why. This is a good idea for us as a smaller scale company to consider because it will allow us to picture exactly who we want. We can then cast alongside these making sure we as casting directors get the appropriate actors.

Casting

The casting process is always very stressful for both the company and the actors as it is very important you get the 'right' people to play the part, if they do not look the part the film will not have the effect intended. These people have not only got to look the part but it is important that they have talent in performing and can act. If they cannot they will play the part effectively or how we as a company intend.
When choosing it is essential for us to get their contact details to arrange the time and meeting places for filming days, we cannot hire any one that does not turn up to rehearsals or filming, this could possibly ruin the films quality because time for editing will be cut. We have already decided on the earlier post of what we are expecting each character to look like and so we have an idea of what sort of people we would like to cast.
Therefore, within the casting process  it is important for us to take into consideration the following aspects about each artist and auditionee:

  • Looks
  • Age
  • Style
  • Gender
  • Hair Colour
  • Wage
  • Weight
  • Ability
  • Versatility
  • Voice
  • Reliability

Introduction to all Characters & our expectations for casting

Here is an introduction to all the main characters in our film.

Thinking of Trailer Shot ideas

In this blog post, both Marcia and I sat down together to discuss the possible shot ideas, we will want to include within our trailer. This will help us with casting as well as getting appropriate costumes and props. Both is the picture of the sheet in which we jotted down the sequence of our shots. This will help   us to create a storyboard for our trailer further on in the planning process.

Analysing my Logline ideas

IDEA 1: " Missing a document which could cost her company firm millions, a young high-powered lawyer panics, packs up and leaves her old life behind"

IDEA 2: " Leaving proves easy but returning is a whole lot harder for a young woman who deserted her old life for a unexpected new one "

IDEA 3: " Panicking a young women escapes her life in fear she will be hated, deserting her family for an unexpected new life "

Logline Ideas

A Logline

What is a Log-line?

A Log-line is a short summary of your film. It is a short sentence in which tells you what the film is about and helps the audience see if they will be interested or not therefore. Therefore it is a vital sentence to get right in order to gain a wider audience and should interest people to watch the movie.
A Log -line is needed for film producers because it sells the film to the target audience and could possibly widen the audience members.

How are we to target this audience?

Immaterial Girl's Target Audience

The target audience for our film will be young Females under the age of 18. However, we will also try to include other audiences within our targeting because this will allow our audience to widen, creating more viewers and profit for us as a company.

General Target Audience: FEMALES

Specific Target Audience: YOUNG FEMALES (15-25)

Film Audience Research

This can be found on the BMFI website in their 2012 statistical yearbook. It analyses how many people from different age groups attend the cinema to watch a film. Our trailer will be previewed at cinemas in order to widen audiences and let the film be known of. Without this advertisement from our trailer, the film will not have an audience.
This photo shows that 15-24 year olds are most likely to go to the cinema. Therefore our trailer and film should be targeting the younger generation. Evidently if 15-24 year olds attend the cinema more often, they are most likely to be the viewers of the trailers. Therefore it would be more beneficial for us to target the teenage generation in order to guarantee ourselves an audience.

What is a Target Audience?

A Film audience is simply the type of people who are going to watch the film and these is visible for every film. However, although the view is mostly watched by the targeted audience most definitely you also get people outside of the target audience range who also view the film.
A films visual interpretation attracts its targets audience because of the way the producers have made the film 'look'. Colours and in particularly the name of the film will be targeted at different types of audiences. For example, Romantic Films are aimed at women in particular and especially young teenage girls with the idea of bright, happy colours; however in comparison an action film is targeted specifically at men because of the stereotypical fighting and deaths that occur within them.
Categorizing a film bases the film on the stereotypical factors of that certain type of people, however the film industry will include factors that attract different audiences in to widen their audience amount.
